Inspired by the teachings of my grandfather, this mixed media canvas piece recalls the importance of deeper epistemic knowing and connection with nature.

Change is inspired by the bright lights in times of darkness. This piece

was created using AI photo editing software combined with mixed media canvas piece, Decentrada.

Co-created with my daughter Isabella, this piece is a mix of watercolour and algorithmic editing software.

This work emerged from a spontaneous collaboration between the artists using algorithmic editing of watercolour paintings with Sandra Johnstone, in Nanaimo, BC in 2022. This work alerts us to D. B. Rose’s (2017) work on “shimmer” in chance encounters, and encourages us to attend to the ways that a brilliant moment shared with others can continue to move though the world. To us, as our first in-person encounter after initially starting doctoral studies, this event of art creation was our own joyful and brilliant moment--one that came from our collaboration as well as our engagement with the ghosts of the past.
