I started this oil painting with patients in Art Therapy and named it Anxiety and Depression Do Not Define Me. One adolescent reported the middle black hole of the flower was how they felt from their symptoms, like their energy was taken from a black hole.
This is downtown in little Shenandoah, Iowa, with a population under 5,000. The therapists to the population are underserved, and I found a need to change my career from the criminal justice side to the mental health counseling side. The label is my real cat, Dobbie.
